Professional Background
Tamara is a Registered Psychologist (Clinical /Sports and Exercise) who has over 15 years of experience within the healthcare industry, which includes Biomedical Science, specialising in Physiology, teaching Pre-Medical students, working within Allied Health industries, and being a Psychologist. She has worked in various areas, including Sporting Teams (Organisations), Education Institutions, Private Practice and Clinical Organisations.
Tamara has a special interest in Women’s overall Health and Wellbeing. Body Image, Eating Disorders, Perinatal Anxiety and Depression, Women’s athlete performance.
Tamara has worked with many sporting organisations in addition to working in Private Practice, including The AFL Players Association (AFLPA), Werribee Football Club (VFL), Geelong Football Club (AFLW), The Adam Saad AFL Academy (Carlton Football Club), Deakin University, Private School Rowing Teams, Basketball (NBL1) Team, Martial Arts, Gymnastics, The Australian Ballet School, Performing Arts and lots more.
Sporting Background
Tamara has a background in competitive gymnastics, which has given her an insight into the demands and pressures of a competitive sport. Many athletes face performance anxiety, self-doubt, fear of failure, perfectionism, body image dissatisfaction, performance pressures, motivation, injury management, team dynamics, and relationship management.
Tamara is passionate about helping people achieve their potential and working with young elite athletes to create foundations to build on while they navigate their world.
Tamara’s special interests include Womans Health and Wellbeing, Performance, Body Image, Eating Disorders, Anxiety, Stress Reduction, Self-Confidence, Resilience and Health Behaviour Change. She also enjoys working within multi-disciplinary organisations and collaborating with clients to manage Anxiety and Stress, Improve Performance and Injury Prevention.
Evidence-Based Therapeutic Modalities
In treatment, my approach is drawn from a range of evidence-based therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and (CBT-E) for Eating Disorders, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness based techniques, Positive Psychology principles, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
